Biti asserts himself CCC vice president

- Wallace Ruzvidzo Herald Reporter

AS the CCC debacle continues to unfold, Mr Tendai Biti has asserted himself as the vice president of the opposition outfit, in a clear indication that he will not be following Mr Nelson Chamisa out of the door.

The opposition party’s senior official, Mr Charlton Hwende also changed his X bio to secretary general, adding fuel to Mr Chamisa’s current torment and also in an indication that he will not be following the beleaguered opposition leader out of the party.

In an interview with a local media outlet yesterday, Mr Biti said he was not aware of nor was he formally informed about Mr Chamisa’s actions and plans.

He said he was a leader in the CCC according to 2019’s congress, and that had not been reversed.

“I have just read things in the newspapers so I do not know what is happening, I do not know if those letters are genuine or not but speaking for myself, I am Tendai Biti, the Vice president for Citizens Coalition for Change and I am going nowhere.

“All I know is that there was a congress in 2019 and that congress has not been reversed by any process so I am a leader in the CCC and a proud leader in the CCC.

“As I said I have just read things in the newspapers, I do not know what is happening, no one as formally communicated to me so I can’t comment about that which is hearsay,” he said.

Mr Biti said he was a member of the CCC hence he would not be following Mr Chamisa and would evidently not support his decisions going forward.

“I am a lawyer so I act on the basis of direct factum probendum which is hard facts so I do not know what is happening, all I can do is to speak for myself and speaking for myself I am a member of the CCC.

“I think we should remember Morgan Tsvangirai. What would he do now and say now, he would say stay united,” he said.

The CCC was formed two years ago but the party has been marred by misfortunes wrought by gross misorganisation since its inception.
