Why Zanu PF will win tomorrow’s by-elections

- Marilyn Mutize Herald Correspondent

THERE are many reasons why Zanu PF is confident of winning by-elections set for tomorrow in various parts of the country.

Parliamentary by-elections will be held in Goromonzi South, Seke, Pelandaba-Tshabalala, Chegutu West, Zvimba East and Mkoba North.

There will be by-elections for councils in wards in Chitungwiza, Harare, Buhera RDC, Mutare, Marondera, Manyame, Chegutu, Chinhoyi, Norton, Chiredzi, Gweru, Kwekwe and Bulawayo.

Zanu PF’s confidence of winning emanates from the huge number of initiatives the ruling party has come up with to improve livelihoods of the people in these constituencies and wards.

These candidates are well-positioned to significantly improve the lives of their citizens as projects being spearheaded are based on co-operation, solidarity and a dedication to furthering President Mnangagwa’s vision aimed at achieving an upper middle income economy by 2030.

Zanu PF members in these constituencies and wards have also been working hard to garner more votes against the opposition.

Anyone with a position in the party, from the cell level upwards, did play a role to win the hearts of those who had moved to the opposition and this will ensure a clean sweep in tomorrow’s by-elections.

Interventions which include inputs distribution to ensure household food and nutrition security and drilling of boreholes so people can have access to clean safe water have been welcomed by many.

Plans for road rehabilitation, especially in Goromonzi South have also excited many.

Goromonzi South has had challenges of land barons illegally parcelling out land, but this is being addressed and all those caught on the wrong side of the law will definitely face its wrath.

The constituency is one of the biggest peri-urban constituencies in Mashonaland East and fell vacant following the recalling of CCC legislator Stephen Chagwiza by the party’s interim secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu.

Members of the ruling party have been working hard with strategic teams conducting door-to-door campaigning and holding road shows.

This hands-on approach highlights Zanu PF’s commitment to direct participation, guaranteeing an all-inclusive comprehension of the electorate’s issues and an efficient dissemination of the ruling party’s vision for positive transformation.

Zanu PF candidate for Goromonzi South, Cde Washington Zhanda, has presented himself as a dynamic leader with a broad vision for the constituency.

His pledges in key areas of community development, such as infrastructure, healthcare and education, demonstrate his unwavering devotion.

Cde Zhanda has also pledged to work hard in improving health and service delivery by attending to clinics and schools.

This commitment is in perfect harmony with President Mnangagwa and Zanu PF’s larger objective of elevating communities through high-quality and easily available public services.

President Mnangagwa’s sponsored projects like the ongoing drilling of 14 boreholes in Goromonzi South demonstrate a critical component of Cde Zhanda’s commitment.

The boreholes will also be solar powered.

Cde Zhanda’s focus on crucial infrastructure projects is indicative of the party’s dedication to enhancing the standard of living for the people, as well as its alignment with the national goal.

The ruling Zanu PF has also been working hard to uplift livelihoods of people in Ward 7, 12 and Seke of Chitungwiza.

Zanu PF actively promotes household food security in the Chitungwiza wards and Seke.

Zanu PF chairman for the area that covers Chitungwiza Ward 12, Cde Gift Munyaradzi Choto, emphasised the impact of the inputs programme which he said will ensure every beneficiary is food and nutrition secure.

He said about tonnes of seed and fertiliser were distributed to the communities as part of efforts to boost food production and end hunger at household level.

The endorsement of the Presidential Input Scheme underscores the party’s commitment to economic empowerment and sustainable agriculture, aligning with President Mnangagwa’s broader vision for national development.

The focus on Chitungwiza Ward 12 as a pilot project for food security initiatives serves as a testament to Zanu PF’s dedication to uplifting communities and fostering self-sufficiency.

Beyond electoral promises, Zanu PF’s commitment extends to actively participating in programmes designed to improve the lives of constituents.

It is important to recognise the candidates’ positive outlook on the approaching by-elections.

Zanu PF candidates are confident of victory and said they are geared to bring back home the lost seats.

The candidates’ attitude of co-operation, and support for President Mnangagwa’s policies paint an enticing picture of a party dedicated to the advancement of the country.

Youths from Ward 7 Chitungwiza have been working hard in developmental projects. They have also taken an interest in improving their environment.

This saw the youths taking an active part in Operation Chenesa, the Government’s waste management programme.

The programme will deliver services to residents following the CCCled city council’s failure to collect garbage and keep the areas clean.

The failure by the council to execute its duties has seen an increase in cases of cholera in Chitungwiza.

Ward 7 chairperson Cde Hardlife Makuku said the youths had been forthcoming and participating actively in Operation Chenesa.

The youths have been organising clean up campaigns in Chitungwiza.

It is intriguing to note that the Zanu-PF candidates’ promises of change go beyond simple electoral pledges, demonstrating a comprehensive dedication to community empowerment and development.

Victory is certain tomorrow as the electorate is also aware of the impact of the developmental projects being spearheaded by Government under the Second Republic led by President Mnangagwa.

It is evident that the ruling party is synonymous with delivering. Candidates do not only make promises but they deliver what they promise.

The by-elections come at a time Zanu PF is pressing ahead with its developmental agenda under the Second Republic.

In fact, this developmental trajectory has endeared the party to all Zimbabweans, who are now realising that the country is making progress despite efforts from the opposition to discredit the achievements.

The opposition parties end up discrediting themselves by trying to denigrate progress that every Zimbabwean now acknowledges has taken place since the coming in of the Second Republic.

It is on this basis that the opposition is no longer a factor when it comes to voters because people would always vote for development, and the Second Republic led by the Zanu PF Government has proved its mettle in leading the country.

Come Saturday, people will vote in the by-elections for the development they are seeing on the ground, instead of promises from the opposition candidates who already seem disoriented by the infighting in their political parties.

President Mnangagwa has rejuvenated the development agenda in Zanu PF and now everyone in the country, including those who oppose the ruling party, are talking about the development taking place everywhere.

This development is leaving no one and no place behind, as it is being implemented in far-flung areas.

All the promises made to the electorate by Zanu PF are being fulfilled and the country has taken a new form and character centred on the development agenda.

This has brought people closer to the ruling party as they appreciate the developmental work that is bearing fruits for the country.

This developmental agenda led by President Mnangagwa has firmly brought Zanu PF back as a major player on the international scene, with many countries now coming forward to forge relations in various sectors.
