It never rains for Jerry Chipangura . . .

IT never rains but pours for former Yadah Stars striker, Jerry Chipangura, who has been forced to tender his resignation at GreenFuel after signing a one-year deal last month.

Chipangura was jailed two years ago for involvement in drug dealings, which was his darkest hour.

The 25-year-old was later paroled and joined the Miracle Boys after the mid-season break last season, where he finished as the team’s top goalscorer with seven goals.

It seems he was released from prison before his full term, with the agreement that he would behave well and tick the required boxes.

However, the condition to report to Mabvuku Police Station every Friday in person appears to have weighed heavily on the resurgent forward.

This is something that might not have crossed his mind when he agreed to a one-year deal with the Chisumbanje side.

The reality is, it would have required Chipangura to travel 1 044 km before every home fixture.

Things could have been worse during their away assignments.

It was a risk he was not prepared to take, hence the decision to resign without delay.

GreenFuel chairman, Fredson Moyo, confirmed to Zimpapers Sports that Chipangura is no longer in their books.

Moyo stated that Chipangura’s decision was personal and beyond their control.

“Unfortunately, Chipangura is no longer with the team, and we never had any problems. He left like a gentle-man after submitting his resignation letter.

“He mentioned that his reasons were personal, and we respected his decision because there is no point in forcing someone to continue when they do not feel comfortable with their situation.

“Chipangura has since returned to Harare, and we are uncertain about his next destination, but we only want what is best for him,” said Moyo.

Yadah Stars owner, Prophet Walter Magaya, demonstrated his vision to use his club as a means to transform the lives of footballers when he gave Chipangura a deserved chance.

He supported Chipangura at a time when PSL clubs were hesitant.

Chipangura is likely to continue his rehabilitation process at Yadah while resolving his problems.

After the midseason break, he was arguably the league’s best player, jointly scoring the most goals with Black Rhinos’ Lot Chiwunga.

Chipangura also found the net in Yadah’s crucial final match of the season, where they humbled Dynamos 2-1 at the National Sports Stadium and secured their place in the Castle Lager Premiership for the 2024 season.

He was expected to help Green Fuel, who struggled in their offensive department last season.

Their top goal scorer, Nqobile Ndlovu bagged five goals in 34 attempts.

Based on his current status, Chipangura can only play for teams located in the capital.
