Sky is the limit for Tanarwo

- Gloria Muruva Arts Reporter

A 22-year-old artiste from Granary Park in Harare, Kugonakwashe Tanarwo is set to release an album titled “Better Days”.

Tanarwo, affectionately known as KG Phenomenal, is a hip-hop and Afrobeat musician inspired by the likes of Jah Prayzah and the late Oliver Mtukudzi among others.

He started his music career in 2020 when he was in the Lower Sixth and has so far released 20 songs and videos.

“I am working on a 10-track album titled ‘Better days’ that is expected to be released in November this year.

“The album talks about a ghetto youth aiming for a luxurious life in the future and it will carry 10 songs. It is going to feature Bagar and I am also hoping to feature Holy Ten, “he said.

Commenting on how he manages his music career and academic studies, Tanarwo said,” I make sure I create time for the studio and time to study so that I would not be found wanting on either side.

“Currently, I am studying international relations at the University of Zimbabwe in the third year. I believe my degree will also contribute to the growth of my music through singing international-related issues,” said Tanarwo.

The upcoming musician has plans to release tracks each month and the songs will mostly be about love because he once experienced a heartbreak.

The musician said there are a lot of challenges he faces as an individual in his musical journey.

“I have a challenge of lacking endorsement because people who are supposed to endorse us charge exorbitant fees.

“Another challenge is that I don’t have accessibility to possible promoters,” he said.

Tanarwo said he is grateful for the support he has been receiving from his fans.
