Sheasham implement changes
SHEASHAM, who were relegated from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League in their debut season last year, have started implementing several changes ahead of the upcoming season.
They will be competing for a ticket back to the top flight in the ZIFA Central Soccer League Division One.
The club appointed a new executive, who is now spearheading their quest to seek topflight football again.
Crispen Ngwenya has been appointed to replace Reginald Chidawanyika as the chairperson and is now deputised by Tawedzerwa Mudzvoka.
Pithias Shoko was appointed as the new secretary general after Violet Jubane resigned. All other members of the executive were retained with club chief executive officer Wonder Chaka being incorporated as the director of football development.
Communications officer Elias “DJ Vas” Maginya confirmed the changes to Zimpapers Sports.
“Yes some changes were done and they were announced by the club president (Clever Mandaza). I understand everything was done above board and can effectively confirm that those changes were done.”
The Construction Boys, as Sheasham are affectionately known, have managed to keep hold of their coach Lizwe Sweswe despite interests from other top-flight clubs.
Sweswe joined the club from Bulawayo Chiefs midway through the season in an attempt to save them from relegation but it later proved a late intervention.
However, they have released more than 13 players to pave the way for new signings. Players who have been released include Hillary Bakacheza, Polyester Shoko, Tanaka Chidhobha, Nigel Mupinduki, Arnold Dirau, and Dynoleen Musukuta.
Sheasham has also roped in guys with premier league experience, including Efinos Kamunda from Triangle, Blessing Ncube, Gama Nickson, Kim Joe Sibanda, Khulekani Dube, from Bulawayo Chiefs, Ray Lunga, and Rahman Kutsanzira from Highlanders.
Despite Thubelihle Jubani and Liberty Masveure training with Manica Diamonds, Sheasham says they have contracts with the club.
“Thubelihle Jubane and Liberty Masveure have running contracts with Sheasham FC.
“Of course, some PSL clubs have shown interest in them, but we haven’t sealed anything yet, we are still negotiating terms. So at the moment, they remain Construction Boys,” said Maginya.
