ZANU PF is preparing for its district co-ordinating committee elections as part of its restructuring exercise after the term of office of the current members expired last year, party Secretary General Dr Obert Mpofu confirmed yesterday.

“We have started the restructuring of our structures from cell to district level in preparation for the DCC elections because their term of office has expired. Before we conduct elections for the DCCs, we need to ensure that the cells, branches and districts are fully structured,” said Dr Mpofu.

National Political Commissar Cde Mike Bimha, he said, had informed the lower structures through their provinces about the activities which will be completed in the first quarter of the year. “The dates for conducting the DCC elections will be announced as soon as we have sorted out the lower structures for a proper process to be conducted,” Dr Mpofu said.

He said that a number of activities are lined up this year.

“We are also looking at the celebrations for our victory which will be held in Mashonaland Central province where the party won all the seats during last year’s harmonised elections. As a party we want to thank the province for an excellent performance,” said Dr Mpofu.

“As you aware we are approaching February 21 which marks the birth of our founding father former President Robert Gabriel Mugabe. The youth league are organising a big event in Masvingo which will be graced by President Mnangagwa”.

Meanwhile, the Youth league has intensified preparations for the National Youth Day celebrations set for February 21 at Mushagashe Vocational Training Centre.
