Deputy Minister set to play part in quality health services provision

NEWLY appointed Health and Childcare Deputy Minister Sleiman Timios Kwidini has pledged to play his part to ensure provision of quality health services in the country.

Deputy Minister Kwidini was appointed Deputy Minister in line with the dictates of the Constituti­on of Zimbabwe and will deputise Dr Douglas Mombeshora who heads the Ministry.

He is a Member of Parliament for Chiwundura Constituen­cy.

In an interview, Dep Min Kwidini, who is a nurse by profession, said he will play his part to ensure there is provision of quality health services in the country.

“Health is a right to everyone despite creed, years, culture or what. We must make sure that everyone has quality health in this country as it has been seen fit for me to be appointed by His Excellency Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa to take this position in the Government,” he said.

He holds a BSc Honours Degree in HIV and AIDS Management and Community Developmen­t and also a Masters Degree in Public Management and Leadership,” he said.

The Deputy Minister said he had been working in the Ministry of Health and Child Care for over two decades before he resigned to join active politics.

“I have been working in the Ministry of Health since 2002 up to the time I went into active politics and resigned from the Ministry in 2023. I then joined active politics then I became a Member of Parliament for Chiwundura

Constituen­cy.

“I have been involved in politics since my youthful days as early as 1998,” he said.

The Dep Minister said he felt honoured following his appointmen­t by the President saying he would not let him down since he had experience in the sector.

“I feel honoured because the President has seen it fit for me to be appointed as someone who has got some experience in the Ministry especially in the nursing department.

“I grew up in Chiwundura in my rural areas, I learnt there, I went to Holy Cross Mission in Chirumanzu.

“I was working in the Ministry of Health and Child Care in Midlands and went for nurse training in 2006,” he said.
