TELONE unveiled eight new players on Saturday night when they held a fundraising dinner in Gweru.

The club unveiled Matripples Muleya and Eriya Mafirenyika from Triangle, Polyester Shoko from Sheasham, Hughe Chikosa from Simba Bhora, Aubrey Nyandoro and Lloyd Gwerina from ZPC Munyati, Admire Dzumbunu from MWOS, and Washington Navaya from Highlanders.

Tendai Chikuni remains the head coach. Club president Oscah Nduwure said the club is committed to delivering excellence and hailed all their supporters for their unwavering support.

He put his weight behind Chikuni. “I affirm our commitment to deliver excellence. We have been working hard in the background to ensure that we build a professional outfit and we are pleased with the technical team that we have lined up as well as the team that we have built.

“He (Chikuni) is an experienced coach who has worked with Shabanie Mine FC, FC Platinum, Chapungu, ZPC Munyati FC, and Ngezi Platinum FC.

“He joined TelOne FC in 2021 and showed tact and dexterity throughout the season leading to the team’s promotion to the premier soccer league,” he said.

“I would like to express my gratitude to everyone, who has supported TelOne Football Club throughout the years. It is your unwavering dedication and passion that have allowed us to reach new heights and establish ourselves as a force to be reckoned with in the Zimbabwean football arena,” he said.

“I extend a warm welcome to our new players who are joining a club with a bright future where talent is nurtured, where dreams are realised, and where legends are made.

“We have a strong belief in their abilities and the unique qualities they are bringing to our team. We are confident that they will all make an immediate impact and become an integral part of our success story.”

Nduwere, who is currently the Acting Corporate Services Director for Telone (Pvt) Ltd, is responsible for Human Resources and Administration, TelOne Centre for Learning Training Institute, TelONe Properties as well as TelOne Transport Division, and his appointment as the president of the club was recommended by the main sponsor.

Ndewere said the dinner was an opportunity for them to lure other sponsors on board.

“It’s not even a secret that soccer is expensive to run as there are a lot of costs incurred daily. So besides TelOne being our main sponsor, we have also welcomed on board several corporates and individuals to work with us.

“Some of the organisations who have come on board and we are on the discussing table include Glow Petroleum, NetOne, and Fidelity Life among others,” he said.
