WFFZ unveils 2024 calendar

THE World Fitness Federation Zimbabwe has rolled out its calendar for the 2024 season with several national and provincial contests lined up.

The federation, which was formed in 2019 to promote wealth living through body-building and fitness.

The WFFZ calendar will begin with the Novice Cup on March 16 at the Zimbabwe College of Music in the capital.

The Novice Cup is meant for beginners who have never been on stage but are looking forward to being part of various contests this year.

WFFZ president Gideon Simba Mhaka said:

“We are ready to host our tournament­s this year and we will have some provincial and national contests starting with the Novice Cup. We will also have the Midlands Championsh­ip and Fitness Expo in Gweru which will help some of our athletes who will take part in the World Championsh­ip in Curitiba in Brazil. We are hoping to have many athletes for the pro-am in Brazil.

“The federation will have their next contests to Harare when we host the Kings and Queens Grand Prix on August 3. The Kings and Queens Grand Prix is of paramount importance as it is used as a qualifier for the Mr Universe. The South Africa Grand Prix will also come hard on the heels of athletes when they take to the stage on August 14,” said Mhaka.

The biggest contests on the calendar will come on October 20 when the Universe UNLV Las Vegas Pro-Am is held.

WFFZ will go on to hold the National Championsh­ip on November 9 in Harare and it will work as a qualifier for the WFF Africa League of Champions to be held in Zambia’s capital Lusaka.

The finals of the WWF Africa League of Champions will be held on November 30 in Zambia.
