Ngezi Platinum register women’s football team

NGEZI Platinum Stars have stepped up their efforts to be compliant with the club licencing regulations following the registration of a women’s football club with the Northern Region Women’s Soccer League yesterday.

As one of the representatives of African Safari, Ngezi Platinum Stars were obliged to have a female football team to participate in the continental club football competition following a resolution passed by Caf in 2022 the Caf which requires participants of the continental club knock-out tournaments to have a female team as they sought to promote women’s football.

And in their bid to be compliant with the club licensing regulations the platinum miners have registered Ngezi Platinum Queens Football team with the Northern Region Women’s Soccer League.

The platinum miners confirmed the latest development.

“Ngezi Platinum Stars Football Club is pleased to announce the registration of Ngezi Platinum Queens Football Club with the Northern Region Women’s League.

“It is a development that is in line with the club’s sustainable growth ambitions, empowerment of the girl-child and in pursuit of the fulfilment of the club licensing requirements,” said the club’s spokesperson Roberta Katunga.

Katunga revealed that the process of setting up the team’s technical team was now underway following the registration of the team with the first division.

“The process of assembling the technical team which will be tasked with talent identification is ongoing and it should be complete by the end of March when the Northern Region Women’s League season kicks-off,” said Katunga.

She said the formation of the women’s club was in line with Ngezi Platinum Stars Football Club’s endeavours to empower the girl child by giving them equal opportunities.

“Developing women’s football is not just about achieving equality; it is about tapping into the pool of untapped talent and inspiring future generations of young girls to dream big, break barriers, and shatter stereotypes,” said the Ngezi Platinum Stars FC spokesperson.

Katunga revealed that plans were underway for the platinum miners to set up a sporting excellence.

“In the long term, Ngezi Platinum Stars FC is focused on building a total sporting Club with a significant presence in most sporting codes in Zimbabwe.”
