(1) 1 PReMIeRshIP newcomers chegutu Pirates continue to sing the blues after they suffered their second consecutive defeat against ZPC Kariba in a castle Lager Premier soccer League match at Baobab yesterday.

chegutu Pirates were coming from another 1-0 defeat at the hands of FC Platinum. ZPC Kariba added to their woes yesterday when stanley Ngala scrambled home a 33rd-minute winner.

The former FC Platinum and highlanders man connected a low cross from the right under a challenge from two defenders to give the visitors the lead.

The match was evenly balanced with both sides creating meaningful chances. But the hosts were not lucky enough to escape with at least a draw.

ZPC Kariba coach Newton chitehwe, whose side has now won one and drawn one, said they are on the right path and are going to continue working hard.

“The game was tough but we managed to get the three points and we are happy. Facing chegutu Pirates was tricky as we last played them long back when we were in Division One.

“We are happy with the progress we are making and all respect to the boys for a job well done. We are now going to prepare for our next home match and this will work as a motivator for us,” he said.

chegutu Pirates coach Day Gutu was not happy with the result and believes they will have to go back to the drawing board.

“We were not lucky to come up with at least a point but we are not resting until we get it right.

“The game was entertaining and we hope we will improve on our conversion rate as it is something letting us down.

“We are going back to prepare for our game away to Manica Diamonds,” said Gutu.
