CAPS star Manokore delights in ‘big win’

CAPS United utility player Eric Manokore says their 2-0 win over Herentals at Nyamhunga on Saturday was a big result for the club.

He believes the club needs to win games if they are going to register success this season.

Makepekepe recorded their first set of maximum points of the season after losing their first Castle Lager Premier Soccer League outing to Chicken Inn last week.

“This was a big win for us, the attitude was very positive and we had a fair share of possession which we managed to utilise by creating scoring opportunities,” he said.

“I am happy we managed to take our chances and make them count.

“Defensively we stayed solid making it difficult for them to play through the team or penetrate us easily. So I am very proud of the team, big applause to the lads, it’s a job well done,” he said. He added:

“Recording our first win of the season is a great feeling. It’s something we knew was coming up but we desperately needed it against Herentals. Such a win paves the way for more success as the long season unfolds. It’s a huge confidence booster.”

CAPS United is expected to host their next game in Harare amid reports indicating that Rufaro has been partially homologated.

Rufaro closed doors for topflight football back in 2019 and is now set to make a grand return at a time Harare-based teams have been staging in places like Gweru, Kariba, and Bulawayo.

Manokore believes it’s a development that should guarantee the club more wins and appealed for the fans to come in their numbers.

CAPS United are set to face newcomers Bikita Minerals in their next encounter.

“Our fans should expect more wins and we hope that they will come in their numbers to rally behind the team.

“We understand our games will soon be back in the capital and for us, it means we should now utilise our home advantage and win all our matches.

“But we are taking each game as it comes and we now focus on the Bikita match. We want to come up with the right attitude which enables us to collect nothing but maximum points in front of our home supporters.”
