15-Point smiles

- Morris Mtisi

FRIENDS from ECD, primary school and now high school. Friends in need and indeed. Friends in hard work. Friends on the way to university. Friends today both basking on 15 ‘A’ level points. Friends on the way to university.

No wonder the smiles. When good friends influence each other to work hard, they achieve together and succeed together. That is the story of Takudzwa Chiwanza and Gerald Maroko. Let us read their stories of success. Read on.

Writes Takudzwa Chiwanza:

We have been friends, very close friends, since 2004 and our friendship has been built on trust and unending mutual support. We are together celebrating our ‘A’ Level success and we hope to excel to greater heights.

During my days at Nyanga High Marist Brothers, I always reminded myself that the absence of hard work is tantamount to the authorship of epitaphs. And that motivated me each and every day.

Grabbing 15 points is only a result of hard work. I feel elated with these splendid results and the feeling of knowing that my efforts have come to fruition is overwhelming. I always feel happy and relieved knowing that I am a source of pride to my school, family and community.

The perfect recipe for perfect ‘A’ level success is choosing the right combination of subjects. My choice in doing Divinity, History and Literature in English was the best for me. I am going to enrol for a Law Degree at the University of Zimbabwe and I look forward to being one of the best legal brains in Zimbabwe, whilst I continue with developing my blog site The Zimbabwe Sphere, which is available on Facebook (www.facebook.com/zimsphere I just want to give my thanks to my teachers Mr Munopo, Mr Chatsanga, Brother Gijima, Mr Makombe and Mr Baudi, not forgetting my head, Mr Nyamandwe whose advice was priceless. Nyanga High Marist is a very brilliant school with a conducive environment for studying. It moulds boys into gentlemen.

I also want to mention my friends Martin Masitera, Elton Kadirire, Munya Katsande and Blessing Marange for their unwavering support. Those sleepless nights we spent reading hard!!!

Writes Gerald Maroko:

It is great achievement to attain 15 points, after sleepless nights of hard work. I would like to thank my teacher Mr Mutsongodza (First Class Academy) and Mr Tandavara for their motivation at FCA. Special thanks to my mother, sisters, and my friends, Tanaka and Takudzwa. I don’t know how to express how I feel right now because it is unbelievable.

My aim now is to be one of the greatest Accountants in Zimbabwe. My dream is to work for the RBZ after studying at UZ.

It is a special honour to be one of the best at my school FCA.

First Class Academy is a very special school where dreams are made attainable. My fi rst time at the school I felt that I had come to a place where I could achieve greatness as the school motto says: “TO CARRY STUDENTS OVER AND BEYOND. I felt very special at FCA, with the educational environment which was well supported by Mr Chiwara. Now here I am. Special thanks to the Mr Mutsongodza, his wife and Mr Tandavara.
