Manicaland charms First Lady

FIRST Lady, Dr Amai Grace Mugabe was last Friday charmed by the unity of purpose displayed by the provincial leadership that went out of its way to organise her meet the people rally at St John’s in Buhera at a very short notice.

Speaking moments before her departure to Harare after officially opening a girls’ dormitory at Hande High School, Dr Amai Mugabe, said: “My words to His Excellency President Mugabe after this highly successful rally is that the people of Manicaland are a united lot. Despite the short notice, the turn-out was very impressive. This was my first meet the people rally and it went well beyond my imagination.

“I want to salute the Manicaland leadership for this great gesture of ensuring that the grassroots were mobilised for this event. I was very impressed and this unity of purpose should prevail until 2018. The leadership has reiterated its commitment of winning all the seats come 2018 elections and by what I saw today, they are in the right track. However, we should not sit on our laurels and think that it is a done job because the enemy can come up with surprises.

“I will be touring the other nine provinces and they should all work to surpass what Manicaland has done. We made a lot of promises to the electorate in 2013. Some of the promises were fulfilled, while some were not. The illegal sanctions imposed on our country by our detractors contributed immensely in our failure to fulfil some of the 2013 promises, but we should not lose hope, things will work out,” said Dr Amai Mugabe.

Earlier on Dr Amai Mugabe left the Buhera community beaming with smiles after her generous donations.

She donated 20 000 bars of soap, 20 000 pairs of shoes, 20 000 litres of cooking oil, 10 000kgs of washing powder, 5 000 tablets of bathing soap, 15 tonnes of second hand clothes, 10 000kgs of flour, 120 tonnes of rice, 150 tonnes of maize as well as 300 tonnes of
