Chibuwe High student breaks new ground
YOUNG Allen Simango, who is doing Form Three at Chibuwe High School, is a clear example of brimming talent.
Looking at his pint-sized bearing, one is tempted to think he is one of those students who go to school to “grow up” alas, he has big dreams. He wants to be a superstar.
“I was born in 2001. My mother told me that I used to dance at parties even though I was a toddler. I guess, that set me towards a career in music,” said the soft-spoken budding artiste.
He is into ragga, hip-hop and Zim-dancehall, the current music fad. His silky voice resonates with the chanters who make music these days. Last week, when the new Kubatana Secondary School opened its doors to the public, young Simango was one of the entertainers who mesmerised guests and left them clamouring for more.
His teachers say the young man has a great future if he maintains his humility and focus.
They say he is extremely hard working at school and his attitude towards performing arts is good.“He is down to earth but very talented. To imagine that he has a string of songs to his credit is amazing,’’ said Kubatana Secondary School acting head, Siman’aliso Siyapi, who was also thrilled by the youngster’s artistic prowess.
Already, Allen Simango has released a potential, “Remimhanzi” featuring Chimbwamupengo.
“I am inspired by talented chanters such as Soul Jah Love and Seh Calaz I hope to meet them one day. I believe I am slowly becoming a social commentator. My music is inspired by things that happen around us everyday,” added Simango.
He performs alongside his friend, Dennis Simango particularly during entertainment events at school.
“My group is called Sunrise. Entertainment guru and businessman, Dzonzayi helped us with instruments and we teamed up with my colleagues Artwell, DJ Tamuka and Cromwell. We hope to grow in leaps and bounds musically and with the new curriculum that allows music to be taught at school, we can continue to follow our dream. My message to my fellow youths is one should balance school and a talent one wants to pursue. Indulging in drugs and alcohol can be disastrous,” he warned.
Allen Simango’s musical exploits tallies with the updated curriculum that advocates different pathways for learners.
