Council should improve on service delivery

-

EDITOR — I write this letter with a sense of urgency. This is in regard to the issue of service delivery by the council. Service delivery appears to be at its lowest especially in high-density areas.

This is a serious risk to the general welfare of the citizens and knowingly or unknowingly, the environment is adversely being affected. Refuse is taking long to be collected.

In other instances, it may not be collected at all resulting in residents having to find their own unorthodox means of disposing refuse. This poses health risks.

My appeal is to have the city council put its house in order and give us proper service delivery so that we live in clean environments.

My appeal also goes to residents for them to be responsible and not to throw litter everywhere.

Residents need to enjoy a clean environment, free from the risks of contaminating diseases.

There are also other areas in the CBD where litter is being dumped and not collected.

It becomes a sorry sight. We need to see more action from the council and residents to ensure a clean city.

Service delivery is important and this is what we urgently need as disgruntled citizens.

Also, residents must be careful with how they dispose sanitary material such as baby diapers and feminine pads. Careless disposal of these will result in negative effects that are dangerous to the community and the environment at large.

In the same line, council must ensure that it collects refuse on time. We need a clean environment for everyone.
