Human trafficking a menace to society

-

EDITOR — Human trafficking remains a menace to the unsuspecting public. There is a lot that needs to be done to combat and contain this nemesis. It makes one’s skin creep to learn that those at the centre of this evil can pluck children from a church gathering to sell to ritual murderers.

There is need to be always on the alert. Children attending church should have their own Sunday programme led by an adult instructor. That way no criminal element may lure them away from the gathering.

School authorities should always remind children to walk in groups and to avoid bush paths.

People need to be wary of whom to employ as a domestic worker.

They should have sound knowledge of the would-be employee’s background because domestic employees can easily be paid off by human traffickers to sell off the children they should otherwise protect.

It is always safer to travel during the day when licenced public transport operators are still on the roads. Travelling late may force one to board private vehicles. In such tricky scenarios some of your would be abductors or murderers would behave like genuine passengers, complaining in the manner you would do about the fares being charged.

It should be in the public interest for others who have more ideas on this subject to share their wisdom with others even through the social media.
