ZBC- TV should bring back ‘Air Crashes’ and ‘Unusual suspects’ back on the screens, but should screen them after 9.15pm.— Viewer.

May I extend my heartfelt condolences to the relatives and friends of those who perished in the Shamu bus accident last week. Companies that ply long routes should have two drivers to relieve each other to avoid accidents due to fatigue.— Martin Kayerasora, Headlands.

***** Tsvangirai is a cry-baby. He should emulate President Mugabe who continues to soldier on despite his advanced age. If he cannot accept election results in 2018, he should withdraw and hand over the MDC-T leadership position to someone who is of a sober mind. Politics is a dirty game and needs strong people not cry-babies like Tsvangirai.— Icho.

I recently witnessed a policeman in uniform assaulting a young kombi driver in the CBD when he was denied a free ride in a kombi. The driver retaliated, so who is at fault? — Eye Witness.

Is Sarahawi a province of Morocco or an invaded State like Palestine? Is it a colony and colonised by who? When the rest of Africa was uniting to fight for independence, what were the Sarahawians doing? How could the whole of Africa forget to liberate Sarahawi when it was agreed that our freedom is nothing when other Africans elsewhere are not free? — Richard Chauke.

The Auditor General’s Office unearthed corruption in the Chiredzi Town Council last year, but nothing has happened to the culprits. Waiting rooms at the bus terminus were turned into shops, open spaces were grabbed, the town council beerhall was shutdown and converted into their own sports bars to make good business, they encroached to the rural district council land and councillors are reported to have shared more than 50 residential stands each. The latest, a suspicious housing development association was formed and targets to build 600 houses to sell at $40 000 each. Is this a low cost housing project? How much did this land developer pay to get this land? Is it intelligence or being fortunate that others weave their way into politics to get power and more wealth? Maybe it is the way of doing things that some break the law to get away with it.— Mahuhushe.

I wish to take this opportunity to applaud Government for managing to persevere through difficult times to make the Command Agriculture programme a success. Recently, Vice-President Mnangagwa said they want to move to livestock command farming programmes. Yes, we want that programme to be introduced. It is a good programme for the nation. Although we are suffering economic stress, that should not deter us from aiming high as true citizens.— Terrence Mwedzi.

Let us capitalise on youth development and empowerment. These are crucial steps to eradicate hooliganism and criminality as well as poverty. Sakubva has plenty of youth talent that needs exploration. Many of whom like singing, but they don’t have back-up. Promoters in music and scouts in football, athletics and other sporting disciplines must have a Look Sakubva policy and identify these young talents. If these youths are occupied, crime rate will be reduced. Around the world, the focus is on youths as they hold tomorrow’s future. Schools also hold keys to success as such will do good if they empower children with skills to survive when one leaves school.— Zondi, NHB, Sakubva.

An article headlined: “Chimene, war vets talk peace” is very crucial. Surely, we are not going anywhere if we do not have peace and unity in the province. War veterans are there to shape the young and not to destroy them.— TM.

Kombi crews should improve on their hygiene. We know that they work for long hours, but personal hygiene is important. Imagine a conductor with armpits smelling like rotten meat. You are working in the public, please bath, mvura haiurayi. Also desist from putting on a lot of unwashed shorts inside your pair of trousers. — Tawanda Mhlanga.

Minister Dokora’s statement that parents can pay school fees using goats and labour has created a lot of debate. I believe in a way he has a point. Money is hard to come by these days and I can use my animals to pay and my kid goes to school. Let us try the idea first on a pilot scale.— TM.

The idea of increasing teachers’ salaries should be taken into consideration. Our foundation and future lies in the hands of teachers.— Kayerasora.
