My father rejected me Dear Tete

I am a 14-year-old girl born with a disability. My mother has tried for many years to keep my father a secret from me. I have been asking about him for years and one day she finally told me where to find him. He is a civil servant with a house and a family, so I approached him at his workplace. At first, he seemed like a good person, but he changed when I told him who I was. He said my mother had lied to me and that he did not know us. He told me to leave and never to return. I was shocked and left the premises. I think that if I was not disabled he would have accepted me.

Tete Responds:

Do not be broken or discouraged by the things done by ignorant people. Your mother probably had her reasons for not revealing your biological father. She probably had seen and experienced his nasty side and wanted to protect you from him. It is quite unfortunate that we still have men who reject their responsibility as fathers. Let that not stop you from becoming the best you can be in life. Do not let your situation, environment or feelings be the reason for your downfall. God loves you and created you to be someone bigger than anyone’s reason for rejecting you. Stick to your mother who stood and continues to stand by you. Be Strong

Dear Tete

I am a middle-aged woman who has been married for many years. My husband has made my life a living hell. He does not respect me at all, putting his girlfriends on his WhatsApp profiles and telling me that I do not bath. My husband told me that he is only with me because of the property he does not want shared in the event of a divorce. I do not enjoy any conjugal rights with this man and my prayers are not being answered. I feel like sleeping and not waking up because I am tired. The only thing keeping me alive is the thought of my children having to live without me.

Tete Responds:

My sister, life is a precious gift that we are given by God and rejecting that gift is refusing what God has chosen for us. Never, take your life away for anyone. No problem is too big to solve. Your husband is enjoying his life and unfortunately he is hurting you in the process. Some people do not care who they hurt as long as they are comfortable. Find your happiness and hold on to it. He has excluded you from his joy, let go of him. Concentrate on yourself and your children. Open your heart to happy days without the one that does not see any value in you. You are special, beautiful and you have the potential to excel. When you sleep, rest and when morning comes wake up, make up and show up. Keep living.

A prisoner of my past deeds Dear Tete

I was sent to prison for theft a few years ago and ever since my life has been terrible. I admit that I made a mistake, but must I continue to suffer the consequences. I have repented, but my family will not leave me in the house on my own. If anything goes missing in the house they always accuse me. Am I ever going to be fully trusted again?

Tete Responds:

My brother, it will be well. Just remember that building something takes longer than destroying it. The trust that has been broken will take longer to return. All the while try and continue to be the reformed person you are. Some will take advantage of your past deeds to get away with their own selfish agendas, but do not be moved. You must work hard to regain your family’s trust and also that of the community. Take time to also share your lesson with the youth so that they continue to be good members of the society.

All the Best.
