‘Tell the true Zimbabwe story’

- Luke Mafere Post Reporter

A SENIOR Zimbabwe National Army officer, Brigadier General Tendai Elliot Stanley Dzirutwe, has implored officers from other countries attending courses in Zimbabwe to be ambassadors of the country and tell the true Zimbabwean story when they return to their respective countries.

Brig- Gen Dzirutwe who is the ZNA’s Brigadier- General (Quartermaster Staff) was speaking at the joint graduation of the Ordinance Officers and Transport and Movement Operations courses held at the Army School of Logistics last Friday.

“As the Zimbabwe Defence Forces and indeed the whole nation, we are aware of the negative international coverage that the country continues to get on a daily basis especially at the instigation of western nations. We are always happy to interact with officers from other nations as we are sure that you will go and tell the correct story that you have seen in the country,” said Brig- Gen Dzirutwe.

He said joint training was important in fostering a sense of unity among regional armies who in most cases share the same training doctrine.

“Joint training enhances regional integration of all armies in the Southern African region especially with the view that we are now driving towards the strengthening of the SADC Brigade, making it not only necessary, but mandatory for the armies of this region to work together,” he said.

The graduating courses had a total of 28 graduands drawn from the ZNA and other regional armies among them the Ubutho Swaziland Defence Forces as well as members of the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services.
