Effective community health leadership yields results in Mukuni

- Post Correspondent

DOMCCP is working in Mutare-Rural District, Mukuni Ward Eight under the CECHLA project. CECHLA stands for Coalition for Effective Community Health and HIV Response, Leadership and Accountability.

This is a project being implemented by a consortium of 12 organisations that are either technical partners or Community-Based Organisations ( CBOs) operating in Mashonaland and Manicaland.

These organisations are working to increase uptake of quality health and HIV services by key and vulnerable populations. In an attempt to create demand for HIV prevention ( HTC, PMTCT, VMMC, STI screening) and care or treatment services such as CD4 count and viral load by priority populations, DOMCCP project has been using a strategy called Joint-In- Circuit ( JIC) and community dialogues.

Since the project also focuses on advocating for quality services to be provided to the priority populations, awareness campaigns on Patients’ Charter, administration of the Community Score Card, advocacy follow- up meetings and monthly Health Centre Committee meetings are carried out. To date this project has seen the following achievements:
