Wife mur­derer fi­nally ar­rested :

A RUSAPE man al­legedly force­marched his wife to a moun­tain be­fore fa­tally as­sault­ing her with an un­known ob­ject.

James Sik­ila (33) of Mu­radzi Vil­lage in Chief Tandi’s area who has been on the run since April was ar­rested last week­end while hid­ing at his brother’s House Num­ber 3027, Magamba Ex­ten­sion in Rusape.

Sik­ila ap­peared in court on Mon­day and was not asked to plead by Rusape mag­is­trate, Mr Shane Kubon­era, who re­manded him in cus­tody to July 31.

Mr Kubon­era also ad­vised Sik­ila to ap­ply for bail at the High Court as he was fac­ing a se­ri­ous of­fence.

State prose­cu­tor, Mr Ta­fara Chawatama, told the court that the skele­tal re­mains of Sik­ila’s wife whose name was not pro­vided in court pa­pers were dis­cov­ered in the moun­tain two weeks after her cal­lous mur­der and were taken to Parireny­atwa Group of Hos­pi­tals in Harare for post-mortem.

“On April 14 at around 10pm, Sik­ila had a mis­un­der­stand­ing with his wife while they were in their bed­room hut.

‘‘ Sik­ila later force-marched his wife to a nearby moun­tain where he as­saulted her with an un­known. The wife sus­tained se­ri­ous head in­juries re­sult­ing in her death.

“Her re­mains were dis­cov­ered scat­tered all over the scene of the mur­der after two weeks. A post mortem was car­ried at Parireny­atwa Hos­pi­tal,” said Mr Chawatama.
