Buffaloes face party spoilers Tenax

- Senior Sports Reporter

THE plot in the 2017 Eastern Region Division One race for the title is getting thicker with each passing week and tomorrow Buffaloes will clash with party spoilers Tenax in yet another crunch league encounter whose results will have a huge bearing on the championship contest.

The potentially explosive encounter starts at 3pm at Vengere Stadium in Rusape.

Correctional services outfit Tenax, who have not shown character to attain promotion into top-flight league, have earned the party spoilers tag over the years after perfecting the art of standing in the way of fellow Mutare-based teams that will be fighting for Premiership promotion.

Only last weekend, Tenax got the better of Mutare City Rovers by a solitary goal, thanks to diabolical match officiating that saw Tenax being awarded a penalty out of absolutely nothing, let alone a number of dubious decisions by an out of sorts Marondera referee, Chauruka Muchineripi.

However, Buffaloes chairman Tendai Chitowa said they were ready to close the gap starting with the match against Tenax tomorrow.

“We are ready for Tenax. Yes, they are a good side and we respect them for that, but we have done our homework. We will win that match at all costs and start closing the gap between us and the two teams at the top.

“We really want to urge our fans to come in their numbers and support the team that has always been a source of joy to them.

“It is known that Buffaloes is the team for Manicaland and we will not let the province down,” said Chitowa.

While Buffaloes will be battling it out against Tenax, log leaders Mutare City Rovers will entertain Renco Mine at Sakubva Stadium tomorrow.
