THE late Friday Phiriw as a robust Number 10 player. His huge frame, fierce and bra zen face made opponent markers tremble and shake in their shoes. He was also nicknamed ‘Breakdown’ as he left defenders lying on the ground. May his soul rest in peace. — Football Fan.

***** Government’s position on tsikamutandas was and still crystal clear as it was well articulated by the then Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Ignatius Ch om bo. He ordered for their arrest and if there are still some remnants, they should be cleared. Anyone who accuses another person of witchcraft is committing a felony. The Witchcraft Suppression Act is both explicit and implicit. This reminds me of an old hungry lion that accuses cubs of smelling like goats as a prelude to devouring them.— CTM.

***** It seems Z BC- TV is providing a stepping stone to ministerial posts and other high flying jobs. Once upon a time, Supa Mandiwanzira was an on the box face, casting news, so was Makhosini Hlongwane reading news in Ndebele. Fast forward the passage of time, the two are now Cabinet ministers. If you fancy climbing to the top, begin at the bottom at ZBC!— Observer.

As citizens of Zimbabwe, let us make sure that we register as voters to avoid inc onve ni en ci es during next year’s harmonised elections. Achieving a free peaceful Zimbabwe was not a soft nut to crack.— Martin Kayerasora, Headlands.

I was in Mutsvangwa, Chimanimani recently where I witnessed the great work being done by village health workers. The village health workers are helping the community in preventing diseases such as malaria. Malnutrition is being reduced in children by the offering of diets made up of local fruits and vegetables. There are doing a great job in supporting Government’s efforts to eradicate diseases.— Tawanda Mhlanga.

***** Zim-dancehall is making progress in the music fraternity compared to other genres. I am extremely happy to note that herein Manic al and several artist es have joined theZi m-dance hall bandwagon. In Mu tare, a good number of chanters like Doubles have excelled by recording music with a message that appeals to many music lovers. Promoters should continue supporting upcoming artist es, their talents must be unleashed. I want to urge artist es to stay away from drugs and desist from engaging in criminal activities. This can destroy their talents and tarnish the image of Zimbabwean music. In the same vein, I would like to applaud Diamond FM for playing a pivotal role in promoting local artistes. I have been listening to Diamond FM’s daily Top 20 and what I have noticed is that many artistes on that chart are local artistes. Your support of local talent is paramount and you are on top of the game. Gindimukindi raWasu is there to stay. DJs like Tinashe Zilole, Prudence Gwitirwa and Mercy Ngwebvu are doing what I call wonders. They a reina class of their own. I want to take this opportunity to thank The Manica Post for working hand in hand with Diamond FM to push the good works ahead. You area great team. Thank you very much.—T err en c eM wedzi, Osborne Dam.

The increase in the number of murder cases is now a cause of concern. I think it is wise to restore the death penalty. Killers must face the full wrath of the law. They are killing people like chicken sand want to get rich quickly. How can a normal person commit such a crime? Surely some people are like animals and they deserve death sentences. The law should deal severely with such barbaric characters.— Worried Citizen.

***** It was unfortunate that them an of the moment in music circles had to run for dear life at a funeral in Harare. I have been following his music since his first album. When he hit the purple patch with Tsviriyo, he became big headed. My advice to the young man is that he should take care of his group members. Gonyeti left the group due to poor working conditions and now we hear that his security team is earning peanuts. Brother, you should learn from Mac he so whose band collapsed because of that. Please Brother, take care of your employees and you will conquer the world with your talent.— Tawanda.

***** It is disheartening to note that some companies are not paying their workers. Imagine going for two years without a salary while top management have their salaries and perks being paid every month, their argument being the state of the economy. Why not share the few resources available? Many families are now in crisis because of the issue of money. Our companies’ top brass must have a human heart. Yes, profits may not be super, but spare a thought for shop floor workers. A hungry man is an angry man.— Worried Worker.

***** People who continue to shun the country’ selectoral process are to blame. We don’ t know what the future holds if some elements among us continue be having that way. Z EC is educating people about Biometric Voter Registration exercise so that there won’ t be any excuses. This unbecoming behaviour will take us nowhere and must be stopped. Let us register as voters.— Terrence Mwedzi.

People need to be educated on the importance of forests. We get oxygen, timber, food and medicine from them. Massive afforestation programmes need to be done. This programme should also include our indigenous trees like musasa, mutondo and others. Gum plantations should be revamped with Government taking the lead. Forests are our future, so let us preserve the few remain in gone s.—Mh lang a, Dan gamvu ra.
