WITH just over a year into operations, the Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC) Private Limited has been awarded the prestigious Company of the Year Award while its Chief Executive Officer Dr Moris Bekezela Mpofu (pictured right) was bestowed with the Zimbabwe Top Business Leader of the Year Award for his business acumen among other corporate governance attributes.

The glamorous event, which was held at a local Hotel in Harare on Tuesday, was hosted by the Zimbabwe Business Awards Council (ZIBAC) under the banner of the Zimbabwe Leadership Awards (ZILA) and attended by a plethora of visionaries behind today’s outstanding business and organisations.

Dr Mpofu, who joined ZCDC on March 1 2017 on secondment from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, where he was Director Exchange Control, was recognised for his strength in business decisions, innovation, knowledge, foresight which qualities ZILA said were imperative in contributing to the global economy.

Since his arrival, ZCDC, a wholly State-owned mining company, has witnessed unprecedented constant engagement with the community through deliberated corporate social investment initiatives, transparency, accountability and responsibility with a new diamond mining model that aims at unlocking sustainable diamond value for Zimbabwe.

Last year, ZCDC scooped the Provincial and Sectoral Awards of the Zimbabwe Occupational Safety and Health Awards under the auspices of the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) in recognition of proper safety management practices and a good safety performance record.
