IT MAKES no sense when schools and colleges take a lead in promoting textbook piracy. Most of these institutions have heavily invested in photocopy machines. A school with 100 students doing O-Level only buys one textbook and photocopy the rest. It’s a cost cutting measure, but at the expense of who? The authors and publishers of the book gain nothing. Piracy is destroying our book industry. Set books are also been pirated heavily leaving the authors with nothing to show for their effort, sweat and talent. What a shame . — Tawanda Mhlanga Dangamvura. ****

A good father respects his marriage. Married men let us shun this horrible habit of dating married women. We are using our power, money and status to lure beautiful women into bed. Let that be stopped it’s not right. A lot of problems have been caused by that. Imagine been caught with someone’s wife that affect so many people emotionally. TM

The social media has been awash with faceless characters criticising the government. Posting long and useless articles will never develop us. In my view the ED lead has achieved a lot in its short time in power. One good thing the administration has worked on is been a business based government. It is investments in our various sectors which will translate into jobs. Businesses create and employ thousands of people, not the government. That is the reason why our hard working President spent three working days in Davos. He was looking for investments. Let us not just politic. — Dangamvura. ****

Council should do something about drainage systems in high density areas. The heavy rains have caused a lot of runoff which has caused gullies. Also council plumbers should cover up areas they would have dug while repairing burst pipes. — Mutare Resident. ****

Point of correction: The Beetles perished in a plane crash, not helicopter. Roy Bennett died in a helicopter crash. Singer Aliah died in plane crash.-Reader

Air Zimbabwe should refurbish its fleet for competition. Lucrative routes must be serviced. Meanwhile, what is the position regarding acquisition of new modern fleet? We must fly our flag across the globe. — Patriotic. ****

The architects or designers of The Titanic said she was unsinkable, blasphemously adding, “even God cannot sink her” not until the maiden journey night when it hit an iceberg. It took 4 hours to sink. That musical outfit, The Beetles, boasted they were more famous than God, and what happened? They all perished in a helicopter crash! So, what are we saying, and lessons drawn from those who think they are ‘unconquerable’? God is not to be mocked or taken in vain. Macheso is human, as such fallible. Great men have fallen. In his dichotomy is the late Tongai Moyo. — Reader. ****

Of course, imperfect men advance gender equality, not us, men of God. Count how many men have gone down because of woman! — Avid Reader. ****

Keeping mum on a wrong or choosing to be a spectator and not a player makes one an accomplice to crime or in this case a wrong. Most of those in administration were passengers in a ramshackle bus driven by a geriatric but kept their silence in a way of stamping the going-ons. I am sure no one wants to be flown by a 94 year old pilot or attended to by a doctor of such advanced age. Why keep your tails tucked neatly in between your legs. Now, you can see clearly because the rain is gone! Biblically, Saul took custody of men’s robes while they stoned Stephen to death. His presence at the commission of sin makes him an accomplice. It not bad to tell the ex-Mr President to zip up! — Chimanimani. ****

Wine gets better with age. Similarly, our parliamentarians must mature with age, education and experience. They must be reminded that the whole nation may be watching the live proceedings. This past week had some disgraceful behaviour and scenes. I will save my breath to cool my porridge in not mentioning names. — TV Viewer. ****

Sakubva stadium is a cash cow that needs feeding. The grass must be green, toilets clean, changing rooms modernised, cement seats sealed, security fence secured and so forth. The problem is that the owners, Mutare City Council enjoy revenue collection without maintaining source. The money is used elsewhere. There is a tendency of being satisfied with the status quo forgetting that infrastructures or assets are subject to wear and tear, which is otherwise better known as depreciation. It is very risky to sit on the cement cracked seats as ants come out after feeling warmth and may enter and bite delicate. — CTM.
