Sanchez admits struggling

-

MANCHESTER UNITED forward Alexis Sanchez has admitted his performances at the Red Devils have been below par.

Sanchez, 29, has scored one goal in 10 games since joining Manchester United from Arsenal and he is yet to replicate the form which earned him a move to Old Trafford.

Sportsmail revealed on Tuesday that United fear Sanchez will turn out to be a flop in a similar vein to fellow South American Angel di Maria.

The Chile star was dropped to the bench for Manchester United’s FA Cup quarter-final win over Brighton after he was heavily criticised following his side’s Champions League exit.

And Sanchez has now admitted that he has found the mid- season transition difficult and even considered pulling out of Chile’s squad ahead of their friendly games with Sweden and Denmark.

Sanchez, speaking in Sweden on Wednesday, said: ‘‘As I am self- demanding, I expected something better.

‘‘After my arrival at United, it was hard to change everything very quickly. I even hesitated to come here [to Sweden, with the national team].

‘‘I had asked permission to miss these games, but then I thought better and spoke with Claudio [Bravo] and told him that we should all be united.

‘‘ The change of club was something that was very abrupt - it was the first time I’ve changed clubs in January - but many things have happened in my life that are difficult.’’

Sanchez also revealed that he has found a mate and coffee pal in Zlatan Ibrahimovic after a few months of training with the Swede.

He added: ‘‘I trained for a month and a half with Zlatan and his quality is impressive. We talk and we have a coffee together every day.’’
