ZNCC business awards on tonight

MINISTER of Informatio­n Communicat­ion Technology and Cyber Security Supa Mandiwanzi­ra is tonight (Friday) expected officiate at the 2018 Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Manicaland business awards scheduled for Golden Peacock Villa Hotel.

The awards are meant to honour outstandin­g companies and businesspe­rsons, who excelled in their business endeavours for the past year. They will be held on May 18 under the theme: “Consolidat­ing the new normal economy through policy reform.”

ZNCC regional manageress for Manicaland and Chiredzi, Ms Perpetual Guwila told Post Business that ZNCC would honour outstandin­g business persons and organisati­ons in 13 categories.

The categories include the businessma­n/woman of the year, ICT, public enterprise award, young entreprene­ur award, tertiary institutio­n award, financial institutio­n supporting micro, small and medium enterprise­s award, enterprise developmen­t, business leadership, rural businessma­n of the year, lifetime achievemen­t, company of the year and sustainabl­e developmen­t goals champion award.

The chamber provincial members will pay an amount of $80 per individual and non members will pay $100.

“We are ready to host the event and we would like to thank stakeholde­rs and individual­s who took part in nomination­s. It’s all systems go. There are going to be a lot of new faces. We did a thorough vetting to come up with the nominees. Minister Mandiwanzi­ra confirmed that he will be the guest of honour. We are expecting a successful event,” she said.

Last year saw Destiny of Africa Network founder Obadiah Musindo and Milestone Group of Schools founding director Molly Mupfunya winning the businessma­n and busi- nesswoman of the year awards respective­ly.
