Minister Mutsvangwa deserves award

-

EDITOR — Like an obedient daughter, Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister Monica Mutsvangwa has since her appointment to this critical office, sought to fulfil her principal’s desire and vision of a new Zimbabwe. Cde Monica Mutsvangwa who happens to be wife to Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa, President Mnangagwa’s Special Advisor, is a purposeful woman who has proven that with focus, people can achieve their goals.

Not to say that she has already achieved but what she has done so far in her personal and political life is enough to positively describe as a go-getter.

She is one woman who is so certain of her identity and capabilities that no negative force of whatever form can move her an inch from her convictions, beliefs and ideology. Having joined the Liberation struggle in her mid-teens, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa portrays that cadre who has been allowed by the grace of God to survive the worst of times for a very special reason and I believe one among the many reasons she has survived for is to ensure that Zimbabweans enjoy being Zimbabweans and that everyone enjoys the benefits of being in a free Zimbabwe.

Having served the country in different capacities since independence including ambassadorial roles in Namibia, Brussels and America, the tried and tested cadre has been unwavering in her commitment both to the party and government.

We should not forget that she also wrestled the chairpersonship of the Women’s Parliamentary Cancus Committee from Beatrice Nyamupinga who had occupied that post for about four consecutive terms. When chaos started reigning supreme in Zanu PF, together with her husband, the two fearlessly expressed their displeasure with the status quo and were punished for their outspokenness.

After all the trials and tribulations of politics, the President, Cde E.D. Mnangagwa found it worth to appoint her a Minister of State for the province of Manicaland, itself not a small task for her but she has taken it in her stride.

What has made her task easier is the fact that she respects and believes in the appointing authority.

While she feels betrayed by the previous leadership, just like everyone else, in this new dispensation I believe she is extra motivated by the President’s new way of doing government business and his commitment to make Zimbabwe work again.

Opening Zimbabwe for business has kept the minister and others on their toes and if the engagements she has made so far, both local and foreign are anything to go by, then Manicaland should brace itself for better times.

The number of business projects promising to come Manicaland’s direction are enough motivation for every citizen of this province to work together for the good of the country.

Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company has already taken the initiative to contribute positively to society but offering to build state of the art vending stalls at the vegetable market in Sakubva.

Surely it’s no longer business as usual for Manicaland and her selection for an award by the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce at their provincial awards ceremony comes as no surprise.

This daughter of the soil is working tirelessly for the good not only of Manicaland but of the whole country at large. Special Recognition Award for promotion of investment, revival of industry and infrastructure development bears testimony to her response to the President’s call for everyone to play their part in rebuilding our beloved country.

We can do it together and so let’s support our Minister in carrying out her mandate as assigned by President Mnangagwa. Congratulations Senator Monica Mutsvangwa.
