Give peace a chance
DEAR Editor. — Despite the terrible and terrifying events that occurred at White City Stadium in Bulawayo last Saturday, all peace-loving citizens must continue to conduct themselves in a harmonious way.
Whenever differences arise, they should be resolved peacefully.
We do not want blood on the floor. It is a an unforgivable and punishable transgression to shed blood. Many Zimbabweans will agree with me that the White City Stadium incident was horrific.
It was not a laughing matter and something must be done as a matter of urgency to bring the perpetrators of that violence to justice and send a deterrent message to would be offenders.
The President was the prime target and we thank God that he survived unharmed.
Such acts of terror must be nipped in the bud because if allowed to continue, can send wrong signals to the world and tarnish the good image of our beautiful nation and strides so far made to engage the international community and revive the economy.
To all Zimbabweans I would like to say violence is not the answer to our challenges and we must demonstrate to the world that we are a peace-loving people.
In the same vein, there are some malcontents who are fond of posting gory images of Bulawayo injured victims on the social media platforms.
My appeal to Government is to crackdown and arrest those misguided elements because their motives are misplaced and to cause alarm and despondency.
They want to see our country going backwards and degenerate into chaos. The way they behave leaves a lot to be desired and raises more questions than answers.
Peace must continue to prevail. Peace must be given a chance more than anything. If we do so and conduct ourselves in a manner that encourages peace, great things will come our way.
Furthermore, we should sing from the same peace hymn book because we are all blacks.
The election season is firmly upon us and we should condemn all acts of political violence; and name and shame perpetrators. Instead of sowing seeds of hatred among fellow Zimbabweans, we should focus on bread and butter issues.
May I also convey my condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in White City Stadium bomb explosion. I would also like to wish those who were injured and are still hospitalised speed recovery.
President ED’s move to provide security to all presidential hopefuls is noble and commendable. May the Lord bless Zimbabwe.
