- Fungayi Munyoro Sports Correspondent

UNBEATEN Manica Diamonds FC will be aiming at extending their lead on the log table when they clash with fellow title chasers Buffaloes tomorrow (Saturday) at Mutare Boys High ground. The match will kick off at 3pm. Manica Diamonds are yet to taste defeat and are on top of the table with 38 points, nine points ahead of the Prison and Correctional Services side, Tenax FC.

The Gem Boys who are still basking from their recent derby victory over Tenax are looking forward to another solid performance to continue with their impressive run.

They dismissed Tenax FC 2-1 a fortnight ago. Buffaloes will be their next prey as they seek to bag another set of three points. Division One League was put on hold last weekend to pave way for the 2018 harmonized elections.

Buffaloes are third on the log tables with 28 points. They have lost four matches with Shadreck ‘Father’ Mugurasave’s men having won nine and drew once. Manica Diamonds FC head coach Luke ‘Vahombe’ Masomere said they were looking forward to a thrilling encounter.

“We are ready to battle it out as we meet Buffaloes FC this week. We are coming back a stronger side after the election break. We have beefed up our squad with two players, that we feel are going to add flavour to our play. The Buffaloes game is just like any other game. We will play our normal game and we are not in a panicking mood,” he said. Elsewhere in the Eastern Region Division One League Renco Mine FC will clash with Gutu FC.

Bikita Minerals will host struggling United Lions. Melfort FC has a date with Mwenezana and Masvingo United will take on Prime Rangers.

Green Fuels will host Surrey in Chisumbanje while Zero One One FC will play against Masvingo Pirates.

Chipinge based Gaza Gunners will entertain Blessing Madombi’s Tenax FC.
