Mutare hosts national women’s pool tourney

MORE than 50 female pool players from across the country will tomorrow (Saturday) converge at Villa Spot in Dangamvura for the seventh edition of the popular National Women’s Pool League tournament.

The potentiall­y-intriguing tourney which will see seasoned pool players battling for top honours is

held every month. Last month’s tourney was held in Marondera. The tourney starts at 10am.

One of the event organisers, Memory Chimhutu said it was all systems go. The dress code is strictly white t-shirts and black

skirts or slacks and formal shoes.

The venue has over the months and years hosted several pool contests such as Black Label and One Man pool tournament­s. She confirmed that there will be prizes for the winner up to eighth position. First prize will be $120 while the second and third placed will walk away with $80 and $50 respective­ly.

The fourth-placed will receive $30 will the rest will get $15 each.

“Preparatio­ns are at an advanced stage. We have hosted a lot of provincial and national competitio­ns at the venue. We are excited that this month’s tournament will be held at the spacious venue which allows players to roam and play freely without being disturbed by

revellers. There are a lot of prizes to be won. We have received overwhelmi­ng response from players who are willing to be part of the prestigiou­s event,” said Chimhutu. Last tournament’s winners were Robyn Gillgower, Priscilla Chisoro (both from Bulawayo), Alice Chihota and Patricia Ganya (both from Chitungwiz­a).
