Gwaradzimba reception on today

- Post Correspondent

THE welcome reception for the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba – which was postponed last week due to pressing work commitments – will be held at the Miekles Park today.

The reception, in which people from all walks of life in Manicaland are expected to attend, starts at 10am.

The reception, which was scheduled for last Saturday, was moved to today to pave way for other Government and Zanu PF activities to take place.

Chairperson of the organising committee Cde Kenneth Saruchera said the event was apolitical and meant for all stakeholders in Manicaland.

“We had a lot of activities last Saturday so we decided to scale down the events. We did not want to dilute some of the activities. We then postponed Dr Gwaradzimba’s welcome reception to today (Friday). The venue (Meikles Park, Mutare) and time (10am) remain unchanged. I would like to make it very clear that this is a non-political event where all stakeholders are invited to meet our new Minister Dr Gwaradzimba and pass their messages of solidarity and exchange notes with her on areas they think might help develop Manicaland,” said Cde Saruchera.

Cde Saruchera said the itinerary includes as assortment of entertainment from local musicians, choral groups and poets.

Representatives from different sectors such as business, academia, the religious fraternity and traditional leadership, among others, will deliver messages of solidarity. “This is an opportunity to meet the meet the Minister on a one-on-one basis. It is a platform for interaction between the Minister and different stakeholders in the province,” said Cde Saruchera.
