Zanu PF warns against premature DCC campaigns

- Samuel Kadungure Acting News Editor

ZANU PF Manicaland has instructed cadres jockeying for the District Coordinating Committee (DCC) posts to stop campaigning until they have gone through party ideology training.

DCC elections will follow the restructuring of party cells and branches in the province.

This was one of the resolutions passed during the Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting held last Saturday.

Other resolutions include the recommendation to the Central Committee to consider the re-admission of former secretary for youth affairs Kudzi Chipanga.

This follows a careful analysis of Chipanga’s application and behaviour since expulsion in 2017. Zanu PF provincial secretary for administration Cde Kenneth Saruchera said the party also resolved to form a committee headed by Cde Oliver Mandipaka to counter social media falsehoods.

“The PCC resolved to heed the call of the First Secretary of the party and President Mnangagwa to focus on the economy and development. In pursuit of this, leaders should include development programmes in their areas and also be part and parcel of the developmental programmes underway in their districts. There is need to engage with key stakeholders such as local business community and most of the meetings should be of an economic and development nature,” said Cde Saruchera.

He added: “All party leaders will attend a special Chitepo School of Ideology session to ensure that they have the correct perspective of contemporary issues and remain focused on party ideology in their day-to-day party activities. After this session, they will then embark on cell and branch restructuring as per constitution. DCC elections will then follow after this. For now people should not rush into campaigning for the posts. They should wait for instructions,” he said.

“After a careful analysis of his (Chipanga) application (for re-admission) and a consideration of his behaviour, his application was recommended to the Central Committee for consideration. The recommendation was without an adverse report. It was unanimmously agreed that he has not joined opposition politics and has always been begging for re-admission back into the party. He has been approaching the party to assist where he could and his behaviour has not been rebellious,” said Cde Saruchera.

The indaba also deliberated on the security of citizens and recommended that the machete-wielding gangs be dealt with vigorously.

“Local communities should work and cooperate with the law enforcement agents in their efforts to eradicate this menace.

“The communities should also form neighbhood watch committees to manage this,” he said.

Cde Saruchera said party leaders should ensure high production in all key economic pillars such as mining, industry and commerce, and tourism.
