My heart bleeds for Africa

In this era, l wonder why Africa is still bleeding from neo-colonialism and tribalism. Why do we believe in Western states so much? Why do we love their cultures more than ours? Africa is the richest continent in this world, but we are still poor. Why? My heart bleeds. It is sad that some people in our midst see whites as demi-gods. Africa must not rely on foreign aid because we have everything here. Africa must rise! — Terrence Mwedzi, Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

Protect those adorable cats, dogs The Government and local authorities should register people with dogs and cats to ensure their care. These pets we see roaming freely like street kids, hungry and sick, are not from the bush, they stay in some people’s homes. A caring nation protects its animals from cruel people. — Mahuhushe.

With so many negative news on Covid-19, The Manica Post cartoons are making my day. Keep up the great work. At least we have something to look forward to in these trying times. — Tawanda Mhlanga, Dangamvura. *** Instead of guarding our independence jealously, AfriDr can countries have allowed the West to superimpose themselves in all aspects of our lives. This is just to weaken African states. They lecture to us on human rights, freedom of expression and democracy as if Africa has become their open university to teach us their strange customs. They fund puppet regimes just to ride Africa like their jackpot horses. Africa, tell the world your beautiful stories to inspire your children. — Richard Chauke, Chiredzi

Words of encouragement: Stand firm in difficult times

What makes us stand firm in the fight against Covid-19 is to understand the purpose of what we are doing. We are in lockdown, understand that this is meant to reduce the spread of the virus. Stand firm in championing measures that stop the spread of the virus, stand firm in making sure you get tested when you have the symptoms, stand firm by making the most or your time and being productive during lock down, strengthen relationships and keep looking after each other.
