No to backyard classes

Various schools have been sending messages to parents advising them to pay for online lessons. What they are doing is illegal.

Backyard classrooms have sprouted across the country, thereby putting learners, teachers and families at risk of contracting Covid-19.

Parents and guardians should be responsible to take care of their children considering the Covid-19 pandemic.

Those who are sending their children to backyard makeshift classrooms are putting their children at risk. —

Deal with porous borders decisively

I would want to applaud Government’s move on considering the official re-opening of porous border points along the Zimbabwe-Mozambique border. The country is losing a lot of revenue through the smuggling of goods through illegal entry points.

In this Covid-19 era, people should be screened properly before entering the country. This pandemic requires us to be more vigilant. This move will also have advantages in our tourism sector. — Msasa K. ****

Grow your own food

Gardening is essential in every household. Every bit of ground near people’s houses can be turned into gardening space. It is vital to stay alive and healthy. With the cost of living going up everyday, it is best to grow your own food.

Some of the surplus can be sold and help in having more income for the families. Many have lost their jobs because of the Covid-19 pandemic and there is massive urban to rural migration right now. We need to device new ways of putting food on the table. —

Senior citizens need our care. Many of them are suffering. They lack food and clothes and sometimes most of them are not working and are poor. Some of them are sick and need constant medical check up. Let us show them

some love. —
