Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned

SPOILING his ‘‘small house’’ while neglecting his family landed a Mutare man in court.

Letwin Marongwe accused her husband and business partner, Prince Musara, of spending their hard-earned money on his lover while his family is languishing in poverty. The couple appeared before Mutare magistrate, Miss Tamara Chibindi.

In her application, Marongwe stated that Musara is in the habit of taking profits from their grocery shop and splashing it on his lover.

“The two of us are business partners but ever since he got into this relationship with his mistress, he has been going behind my back and taking money from the shop to spend it with her. He spares nothing for the children and myself. We are now living in abject poverty,” complained Marongwe.

Musara, however, explained to the court that his relationship with his wife soured when he disclosed that he had married a second wife.

He said Marongwe had demanded a cow for appeasement, adding that he is in the process of buying one.

“I married a second wife without her knowledge and she said I should get her a cow as a way of appeasing her. The woman she is saying is my small house is in fact my second wife and she knows it. It is just that they are not in good books as Marongwe accuses her of being a husband snatcher. It was my choice to marry a second wife.

“We both obtained a loan from the bank and I am repaying it with the money I get from the shop. I am not using the money to spoil my second wife. The loan benefitted both families, so everyone is enjoying the proceeds of the money,” claimed Musara.

Musara, however, refuted claims that he insults and assaults Marongwe.

Miss Chibindi encouraged the pair to be transparent in their business transactions.

She also granted the protection order in Marongwe’s favour and barred Musara from assaulting, insulting and harassing his first wife.
