LETTERS Sanctions stifling economic development
THE issue of sanctions has largely been politicised, with opposition political activists trying their best to convince the people of Zimbabwe that sanctions are only targeted on a few individuals. However, the truth is that the tight grip of the sanctions is being across the whole country. As the people of Zimbabwe, sanctions have caused us great harm since some international organisations are not allowed to deal with Zimbabwean entities. It is now time to speak with one voice. Sanctions must go. — Violetta Mangwiro, Rusape

Deal with land barons
A lot of illegal land deals are happening, not just in Manicaland but across the whole country. Last week you reported that Mutare City Council senior officials who were facing disciplinary hearings over their alleged involvement in stand scandals resigned before the conclusion of the inquiries. While the disciplinary hearings were subsequently terminated after the resignations, l really hope that the culprits will still be brought before the criminal courts. Parcelling out council land is criminal. — Concerned Mutare resident
*** Fingers crossed for Manica Diamonds/ Tenax derby
I read with keen interest that renovations at Sakubva Stadium are almost complete with the City of Mutare confident of completing the outstanding work by end of October. Moreover, Sakubva has been given the green light to host matches. With Manica Diamonds in the Castle Lager Premiership League and Tenax FC having been promoted at the end of last season, Sakubva Stadium is expected to finally host the first ever Premiership derby for Manicaland pitting the two teams. I can’t wait for the day of that derby. — Carlton, Dangamvura Area 16

We grew up knowing that he is a violent dude, it’s time for jail now. ***

It’s a pleasure to hear that Government has availed 3 000 tonnes of grain to be distributed to food-insecure households in Manicaland. I really hope the landless will benefit from this program using the District Administrator’s list. — Gwinyai Shoko
