Seven years’ sex drought

- Tendai Gukutikwa Nison Marweyi

A Chimanimani man alleges that his ex-wife cast a spell on him and has been supernaturally exploiting his manhood for the past seven years.

Nison Marweyi of Ngorima Village under Chief Ngorima claims that for the past seven years, each time he tries to get intimate with another woman, his manhood disappears or gets smaller.

He says he has been unable to bed another woman or urinate normally ever since he divorced Marrian Shereni over promiscuity allegations.

When the pair appeared before Acting Chief Saurombe last week, Marweyi (49) accused Shereni of witchcraft. The pair has an eightyear-old child together.

In an interview on the sidelines of the court session, Marweyi said he is sure that Shereni is the source of his woes because she cursed him when he sent her packing.

Shereni allegedly told Marweyi that he would never have a meaningful relationship and that his wealth would vanish like morning dew.

“I have given up on being with any woman because when I try she ends up leaving me due to lack of intimacy. I no longer have feelings for any woman. Ever since I sent Shereni packing, I have never been intimate with another woman or stayed with one for more than a week.

“I have tried everything, but the script remains unchanged. It seems as if my manhood disappears when I am with another woman. I consulted different spiritual healers and they told me that Shereni is behind my woes. They said the only solution is to take her back,” he said.

Marweyi, however, insisted that he cannot take Shereni back.

“She has been pestering me, begging me to take her back, but I cannot be with someone who is so heartless. She was promiscuous when we were together and that caused our separation.

“I do not want anything to do with her, all I want is for her to unlock my manhood so that I can find love elsewhere,” said the distraught man.

Marweyi said he often feels pain and discomfort in his genital area. He has tried various remedies to no avail.

“I suffer from severe pain and erectile dysfunction each time I look at another woman. This is a result of the curse,” he said, adding that he is appealing for assistance from anyone who can break the curse and restore his dignity.

However, Shereni disputed all the allegations and said Marweyi has always struggled with erectile dysfunction, even during the course of their marriage.

“When we were married he had problems in bed, and that is why I had challenges conceiving our only child. He would order me to go back to my parents’ home to be cleansed, but the truth was that he was struggling to perform his marital duties,” said the woman.

She said the allegations against her were meant to tarnish her image as she is now happily married to another man.

“When I was married to Mwarweyi, he would come up with so many stories and some of them were tabled before our headman. We parted ways because of that. He would assault and insult me. He obtained a protection order against me and I had to move on with my life seven years ago. I am now happily married,” said Shereni.

Acting Chief Saurombe adjourned the matter to a later date to allow the couple to jointly consult spiritual healers.
