Be Familiar with the Public Speaking Venue
Thus, you will be more audible and clear for the audience to hear each word you say.
Body language
Your body language will say a lot concerning you. Try to show composure as much as possible. You can try a power pose to help you with your posture since you will be feeling powerful.
Using gestures and movements may help you be more effective in your presentation. Likewise, avoid unnecessary gestures and movements. It might distract the audience. Try to maximise the stage like an actor would do.
Facial expressions should be appropriate for the topic. Smiling will show that you are a welcoming person. Dressing well will as well
If it’s possible, get to the venue early and familiarise yourself with everything in the room. Observe your surroundings and get comfortable being there.
Know where everything is, such as the equipment you will use, if any. Also, know where you are to sit before your speech, where the stage is and its entry as well as its exit.
It might not be your first time in that room, but you have never stood at the front. Look for a time before you speak to get comfortable at the stage.
Believe in yourself
Getting over public speaking anxiety will not happen overnight. You will have to put in more practice and time into it. Every opportunity you get to speak in public, please grab it.
It could be small speeches like at weddings or chairing a meeting, they will be beneficial.
All in all, remember to believe in yourself because you are your biggest cheerleader.
And if you are wondering, yes, I did much better in my other presentations.
Finally, remember to arrive on time, don’t go over the time allocated for you and if possible, ask for feedback.
I hope you will be able to improve your public speaking skills. — www.linkedin.com
