Having the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) incorporated in our domestic game is ideal to ensure that we move along with new developments and trends in global football. However, our game’s leadership must prioritise refurbishing the stadia we have and bring them to acceptable standards. We cannot continue having a situation whereby our national teams play their home games in other countries just because our local facilities fall short of meeting the required criteria. Just imagine the Warriors failing to host any of their home ties during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers; it will be too bad and so sad. —

Efficient interventions to effectively stem the tide have to be put in place. Meanwhile, communities must continue upholding high hygienic standards, while also religiously following the recommended health guidelines on curbing cholera. Prevention is always better than cure. —
