Renovate local stadia

Having the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) incorporated in our domestic game is ideal to ensure that we move along with new developments and trends in global football. However, our game’s leadership must prioritise refurbishing the stadia we have and bring them to acceptable standards. We cannot continue having a situation whereby our national teams play their home games in other countries just because our local facilities fall short of meeting the required criteria. Just imagine the Warriors failing to host any of their home ties during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers; it will be too bad and so sad. —

Provincial cholera secretariat welcome

As the cholera outbreak persists, with Manicaland recording the highest cases, the establishment of a provincial secretariat to oversee the implementation of the national strategy to eradicate the disease is a welcome development. Efficient interventions to effectively stem the tide have to be put in place. Meanwhile, communities must continue upholding high hygienic standards, while also religiously following the recommended health guidelines on curbing cholera. Prevention is always better than cure. —

Increased production way to go Increasing the production capacity of local companies like Quest Motors, Willowton Zimbabwe and Mega Market, among others, is very crucial to promote their viability and sustainability. This will also create employment for the locals, while also enhancing a boom in the province’s GDP. —

Nip drug abuse in the bud

All stakeholders need to keep their foot on the pedal in the fight against drugs and substance abuse. The scourge has to be nipped in the bud before it takes an irreversible toll on our society. We all have to join hands in this fight because the adverse effects of the menace affect everyone. —

Take it easy on the roads

As we approach the festive season, we have to remind each other to take it easy on the roads to prevent accidents. The responsible authorities must carry out regular patrols to inspect vehicles and ensure that rules and regulations that govern safe usage of our roads are obeyed. Let us drive to arrive alive, it is better to be late than be the late. —
