Let’s fight GBV as one unit

The battle against Gender Based Violence must involve everyone at all levels. More awareness should be raised during this period as we commemorate the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence. Stiffer penalties like custodial sentences and heavy fines should also be imposed on all those found on the wrong side of the law. This will serve as a deterrent to would-be offenders. The war can be won if we fight together as one unit. —

Gimboki land scandal needs to be nipped in the bud Government’s intervention in the Gimboki land scandal is a welcome development and is expected to bring sanity to the area. This will keep in check those who have been illegally allocating land in the area. Some desperate home seekers were duped of their money, but did not benefit anything. Residential settlements must properly be planned and executed to avoid problems in the future. I am one of those people who were part of the scheme and l am following developments with keen interest. —

Access to water is crucial in cholera fight

May the City of Mutare please ensure the availability of water. We understand that there may be disruptions and challenges with the supply system, but these must always be quickly resolved so that there are no much inconveniences. Without steady water supplies, the cholera situation may worsen. Water is life. On our part as residents, we must always use water sparingly and also guard against vandalism of infrastructure that may affect the delivery of water to our homes. —

Those bikers who were recently in Mutare on a mission to campaign against drugs and substance abuse must be applauded for such an initiative. It left a lasting impression on many and it was quite a unique way of taking the message to the people. More voices must be amplified on this issue and more players need to come on board to take action in tackling this challenge that is threatening to ruin society. —

Soldier on, Tenax

Tough luck to Tenax for failing to get Premiership promotion due to a boardroom decision that went Bikita Minerals’way. The team must put that setback behind them and move on. They must challenge for the top honour again next season because they have proved that they have what it takes. All the best. —
