Great leap forward for Manicaland in 2024

- Cletus Mushanawani News Editor

MINISTER of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza, has declared the Year 2024 as the year for the province to shine by implementing a number of signature projects to ensure that every Zimbabwean feels the impact of the Second Republic’s sterling work.

His sentiments come at a time when Manicaland is basking in the glory of the commissioning of life-changing projects across the province last year.

All the seven districts of Manicaland witnessed the commissioning of different projects by Government in 2023.

Buhera District witnessed the commissioning of Sabi Lithium Mine and Plant by President Mnangagwa and thousands of jobs were created in the process.

In Chimanimani District, Chikwizi Clinic, Nhedziwa Vegetable Market, Mhandarume Clinic, Kwirire classroom block and Shinja Footbridge, among other projects, were commissioned.

Among the projects commissioned in Chipinge were the 63 boreholes drilled under the Presidential Borehole Scheme as well as Chisuma and Mutema High School irrigation schemes. Makoni District hosted the national launch of the 2023/24 farming season Pfumvudza Input Scheme, while Chiduku-Tikwiri and Chitemene irrigation schemes were also launched.

There was also the massive launch of Information Communication Technology (ICT) gadgets in several schools in Makoni District.

Rusape Town Council commissioned the state-of-the-art fire tender that was purchased from Belarus through a Government-initiated programme.

Zimbabwe now has sufficient medical oxygen, all thanks to the Verify Engineering Medical Oxygen and Gas Plant that was established at Feruka on the outskirts of Mutare, while Mutasa District witnessed the commissioning of a number of health and educational facilities.

Not to be outdone was Nyanga District which witnessed the commissioning of Rwenya Bridge, which links Manicaland and Mashonaland East provinces.

The national potato farming project was also launched in Nyanga, while a classroom block was commissioned at Sande Munemo Secondary School, among other projects.

In an interview at the dawn of the new year, Minister Mugadza, assured the people of Manicaland that everyone will work tirelessly to ensure that all Zimbabweans feel the impact of the Second Republic’s life changing projects.

“We know the past Year 2023 was a tough one, but it was eventful for all of us as we witnessed a lot of successful developments ushered in by the New Dispensation under the stewardship of His Excellency, Dr ED

Mnangagwa.

We had our peaceful harmonised elections on August 23, 2023 which ushered in the Second Republic’s Second Term of office, marking yet another remarkable step in our 43 years of democracy and self rule. We thank every patriotic Zimbabwean for exercising their right to vote, and together we are on the right path to achieve Vision 2030 and an Upper Middle Class Economy.

“The time might be tough and rough, but our spirits and resolve must remain unbowed because tough times never last and will always be with us as long as we are here on earth. We are made for this period, never to flinch, but to soldier on until we turn the corner and ensure that Zimbabwe regains its breadbasket status. The social-economic challenges should re-energise us to go an extra mile in everything that we do,” said Minister Mugadza.

He added: “I assure you that in 2024, we will work tirelessly to ensure that every Zimbabwean feels the impact of the Second Republic’s life changing projects. The economic aspirations and material well-being of the less privileged members of the society, the vulnerable and the working class shall not be neglected. We should all know that a new year is a time to start a new age. Besides all the bad experiences we may have

QR encountered in the previous year, we should not lose hope. We should have better expectations this year. We should expect 2024 to bring so many good things in our life as I am very convinced that 2024 will have the cure for 2023.

“Our President, His Excellency, Dr ED Mnangagwa, and every Zimbabwean, including me, believe that the new year is a message of a new life. Let us celebrate the successes scored by the Second Republic thus far as we make decisions for this year on the first day of the year because we all believe and think that the first day is precious. If you spend your first day of the year happily, then the year is going to be one of the best years of your life.”

Minister Mugadza said the Year 2024 will see the province shining and being among the biggest contributors to the national and provincial Gross Domestic Products.

“The Year 2024 is our year to shine as Manicaland. Let us leverage on our Godgiven natural resources to boost our economy. We want to be up there in terms of our contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

“Let us join hands and work together for the betterment of our lives. Yes, we have the El-Nino weather phenomenon in our midst, but no one will face starvation. We will work round the clock to ensure that everyone has food on the table. As President Mnangagwa always says, we are the servants of the people, and we will surely deliver. I assure you of life-changing projects this year, and there is no relenting in our quest of making Zimbabwe an economic giant,” said Minister Mugadza.
