Goblin attracts foreign buyers
DESPERATION to attract foreign buyers saw a stone sculpture acquiring wealth enhancing charms.
This came to light after Nyanga “goblin dealer,” Sekuru Sithole recently approached Chief Saunyama’s court, demanding his dues from Nathan Mabhande. The traditional healer argued that his goblins had changed Nathan Mabhande’s economic fortunes for the better.
Nathan Mabhande was in default as it was stated that he was in Masvingo, enjoying his newly found wealth.
Instead his brother, Moses Mabhande and mother, Gogo Mabhande appeared in court on his behalf. The pair claimed that Nathan had severed ties with the whole family following the blossoming of his sculpting business.
Moses said when they received Nathan’s summon to appear before the community court, they tried to call him, but he ignored their calls. He said this has become the norm ever since he started making more money from sculpting.
“This morning alone, I left 10 missed calls on his phone. The calls were going through, but were not being answered. This has been happening for the past few years. In fact, when he acquired the wealth enhancing charms which Sithole is now claiming to be goblins, he relocated to Masvingo. He never set foot here. We do not know if snubbing his family members was part of the wealth enhancing rituals,” said Moses.
Gogo Mabhande also stated that her son was not picking up her calls.
“We ask Sithole to tell us how much my son owes him so that we settle this issue. I know that if Nathan continues ignoring us, my other children and grandchildren will pay the price with their blood. We tried to call him, but he is not picking up our calls,” she said.
She, however, pleaded with Sithole to stop parcelling out luck charms to people as this terribly backfires on innocent family members.
However, the traditional healer would not hear of it as he insisted that he will continue with his trade.
“If someone approaches me for my services,
I will not hesitate to assist that person as this is my job. Even if they default in paying me, I know how to find them. It can be through that person’s relatives. As his relatives, you should find him so that he can answer for his sins.
“I cannot tell you how much he owes me. He collected a wealth enhancing goblin from me and promised to pay after attracting foreign buyers. The buyers are buying his sculptures on a daily basis, so he should pay his dues otherwise, that goblin will turn against him and the rest of the Mabhande family,” said Sithole.
Chief Saunyama adjourned the matter to March 8 to allow for Nathan to be summoned to the community court again.
This was after Moses had promised to send someone to Masvingo to yank Nathan to the court.
