‘Manicaland cherishes hosting Uhuru celebrations’

- ZANU PF Hon. Advocate M. Mugadza, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Manicaland

On behalf of the people of Manicaland and indeed on my own behalf, I would like to express my utmost appreciation to His Excellency, the President, Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, the First Lady, Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa and the entire Presidium for gracing the 44th National Independence Day Celebrations at Murambinda on the 18th of April, 2024.

Thank you, President Mnangagwa, for your extraordinary service that inspires many people across the country.

Your Excellency, what makes us the people of Manicaland and Zimbabwe at large special is your character and willingness to say I am a servant leader.

Your dedication to duty, your courage and readiness to defend our values and our ideals of freedom and liberty are beyond reproach, and this shows that you are the backbone of this beautiful nation called Zimbabwe.

And for that, Zimbabwe is eternally grateful, and I am incredibly proud to serve as the Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution under your astute leadership.

The hosting of this year’s watershed Independence Day Celebrations at Murambinda in Buhera District and the attendance to the same by His Excellency, the President and the entire National Leadership will forever be remembered and cherished by the people of Manicaland.

The event was a resounding success because of your wise guidance and your leaving no one and no place behind mantra. Zimbabwe is moving forward because Your Excellency, you reaffirmed the spirit that saw us as a people triumphing over the liberation war, economic embargoes and many other challenges in our 44 years of independence.

The never say die spirit has lifted the country from the depths of despair to the great heights of hope, the belief that while each of us will pursue our own individual dreams, we are a Zimbabwean family, and we will rise or fall together as one nation and one people.

Through the decentralisation of national events like, Your Excellency, you have reminded us that while our road to resolutely defend the gains of the liberation struggle has been hard, we have picked ourselves up, we have fought our way back, and we know in our hearts that for Zimbabwe, the best is yet to come, and it will surely come during the tenure of your office.

The Cabinet Committee for State Occasions and National Monuments led by the Honourable Vice President Cde K.C.D. Mohadi and its Working Party Officials deserves special recognition for the priceless role it played in steering the entire process from inception to the conclusion. You have been there on the ground giving us directions, and we will forever be

grateful. To the Manicaland Community, including, and by no means, not limited to our Gallant Veterans of the Liberation Struggle, the entire National and Provincial Leadership, Business Community, the Clergy and not forgetting members of the Fourth Estate, thank you very much for turning out in huge numbers to celebrate this very special day on our national calendar.

Indeed, you made Manicaland proud! Let me also thank Corporates and all our Local Authorities for generously extending various forms of support towards the suchosting cessful of this event.

I would also like to congratulate the Manicaland Provincial State Functions Committee, including the Provincial Joint Operations Command, for rising to the occasion by ably coordinating both the preparations for the event and management of the same on the 18th of April.

Finally, I want to thank everyone from all walks of life who participated in the Independence Day Celebrations preparations and those who found time to grace the occasion. Your contribution and presence made a huge difference. What makes Zimbabwe exceptional are the bonds that hold together, the belief that our destiny is shared, that this country only works when we accept certain obligations to one another and to future generations, so that the freedom which so many Zimbabweans have fought for and died for come with responsibilities. Among the bond that bind us together are love and charity and duty and patriotism. That is what makes Zimbabwe great.

The same espirit ‘d’ corps should be sustained as the province continues to play its part towards the achievement of Vision 2030.

Thank you very much! Mwashuma!
