The triumphant resurrection

- BY HUMPHREY MTANDWA

WHEN Jesus rose on the third day He was different from the man who we saw being crucified. He rose a victorious man and the Bible describes how he divided the spoils of his conquest with the strong. Many don’t know what happened the moment Jesus died and what took place in hell. How when He resurrected the Bible says he had triumphed over them in it. Some versions of the Bible narrate the incident and compare it to a wrestling match by describing how demons thronged Jesus and how He overcame them in a hand to hand battle.

When Adam sinned he forfeited his place of authority and gave the deeds of the world to the devil. From that moment, the devil became the god of this world and corrupted all that was good. Jesus was sent to win back this lost world, but the devil was not going to just hand it over without a fight. The cross gave Jesus the right to fight on our behalf and the moment He died He was brought before the devil so that demons and host of hell could parade their victory over him and showcase the power they had over him. Now Jesus had taken our place and carried all of our sins. The devil assumed he had defeated Jesus and had stopped Him from taking back what people had lost.

The demons were surprised by the power Jesus had and the skill he had in wrestling. Jesus in hell was now fighting for us, but if He had lost He would have become a slave to the devil and the devil would have come into possession of the very word of God and with this word He would have become bigger than even God. So this fight was a fight he invested in and his best warriors were there to subject and defeat the Son of God.

When the devil crucified Jesus he did not know the implications of his plans and how they would destroy the kingdoms he had spent years building. It took Jesus three days to dismantle systems that had been built for millenniums. But the story does not end in Jesus victory in hell when He rose and He caused the biggest prison break of all time. All those saints and people who had died because of Adam’s sin where prisoners of the devil and when Christ defeated the devil he freed millions of people who were righteous and locked up in this massive prison. Hell could not contain the Son of God and his prison break caused others to be released in Jerusalem.

The day Jesus resurrected also changed the position of those that followed him or believed in him. After the resurrection and accession of Christ the church was given authority and was given back the domain Adam lost when he sinned. We are the triumphant church, we can only walk in this authority if we have revelation of it. Jesus defeated the devil and we have access to all the things the devil took from Adam.

But the devil is clever and has created false systems that make man believe he has not regained his lost authority. But the Cross gave you access to all that you lost and when you refuse to believe the lies of the devil you can challenge his false systems and bring them down easily. Remember Jesus Christ overcame the devil, refuse to believe the lies of the devil from today and exercise that dominion in your world.

God bless you
