- By Style Reporter

Zimbabwe Destiny Community Trust founder and director Talent Rupuwu has pledged more support for underprivileged communities after attending the 2020 Dubai Expo for Volunteers.

Rupuwu, whose community-driven organisation, is aimed at building stronger and empowered communities said she felt encouraged after attending the Volunteers Expo.

“My organisation has over the years championed various community development initiatives among them paying fees for disadvantaged students at my former school in Zaka,” she said.

“We have also donated sports uniforms and started livelihoods programmes for women.

“In all that I volunteer my time and resources and being part of the Dubai 2020 Expo for Volunteers really encouraged me to do more.”

The Expo drew various participants involved in all forms of community development and voluntary work.

Rupuwu said she was humbled to represent her country.

“The expo was attended by various volunteers, who are involved in community development in one way or the other,” she said.

“It was quite an enriching experience for me and I thank God that the ideas exchange and experience sharing has inspired me to do more.”

Rupuwu said her circumstances growing up in Zaka defined her commitment to volunteering and community development.

“I grew up under very difficult circumstances in Zaka and as a woman I understand the plight of underprivileged communities,” she said.

“This is why I am so given to volunteering even with the little I get as long it makes a difference in the lives of others.”

Rupuwu said having an interface with the great luminaries in the world economy was quite humbling.

“I was really humbled by the experience and I pray that God continues to carry me through this journey of development work and volunteering,” she said.

“The world is a better place when we come together for the community good and I encourage all citizens to consider the less-privileged in all they do.”
