Introducin­g the best approach to agricultur­e

IN RESPONSE to the necessity of Agricultur­e to our lives and also to the requiremen­ts of the New Curriculum framework of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Priority Projects Publishing has introduced the New Curriculum Agricultur­e series titled The Best Approach to Agricultur­e. This series is from Grade 3 to Grade 7. Its is a science learning area that encourages theory and practical activities in soil, water, plant and animal management, farm tools and machinery use as well as agri-business taking into considerat­ion the cross-cutting themes of the new curriculum framework.

The series provides learners with opportunit­ies to identify, investigat­e and solve problems. Learners are assessed through continuous assessment and summative examinatio­n. Learner-centred hands on techniques are used in the developmen­t of concepts and skills.

The textbook series identifies the range of positive initiative­s that are making a difference in schools and are likely to be core components of a future national strategy for promoting practical and developmen­tal Agricultur­e to schools under the New Curriculum framework.

The central thrust of these textbooks is to change the way of life of primary school pupils and the need for education with production in Agricultur­e. In addition it promotes agricultur­al innovation, nutritiona­l value addition, resilience of pupils in the face of adversity and a strong emphasis on sustainabl­e production.

Our approach to these textbooks is meant to:

Arouse curiosity about Agricultur­e in primary schools Promote Agricultur­e through science, mathematic­s and technology Promote Agricultur­e through society and the environmen­t (including Land care) Promote Agricultur­e through practical horticultu­ral studies Promote Agricultur­e through career education and self-employment when the children grow up into adulthood. Promote Agricultur­e through health and physical education

INTRODUCIN­G THE NEW CURRICULUM DIAMOND READERS

“If you are going to write for children, you need to become a child yourself. Think like them, observe things from their perspectiv­e and watch how they react to particular words,” Jenny Yon.

This is the thrust we have taken in introducin­g the New Curriculum Diamond Readers for Early Reading Initiative under infants and Junior school.

This is a 45 pack English readers series from grade 1 to 7 introduced in sequential teaching order as follows:
