DEBATE continues to swirl on the new curriculum which is being introduced into our education system but it is clear that some of the arguments posited by critics of the initiative are due to ignorance.

For years our education system has been denying the majority of our children an opportunity to follow their natural talents because only those who were academically gifted were given a chance.

In view of the fact that only 20 percent of Ordinary Level students attain the minimum required standard of at least 5 O’ Levels while the rest are literally condemned as second class citizens, the new curriculum is a game-changer in setting the pedestal for tangible socio-economic transformation.

What the new curriculum is doing is to ensure that every child is given an opportunity to determine their own destiny and leverage on their God-given talents.

The thrust of the curriculum is to ensure that those who are good in sports are given that chance, while those who are good in technical and vocational skills are also given an equal opportunity as those who are academically gifted.

The same press has been accusing the Government of coming up with brilliant documents which are not implemented and now the new curriculum which has been gaining dust in the shelves has been spruced up and is now being implemented in line with what suits the country’s needs.

Zimbabwe is an agro-based economy, what is wrong in ensuring that the majority of our learners are equipped in the subject.

What is wrong with equipping our children with ICTs at an early age?

What is wrong with teaching our children indigenous languages besides those languages are recognized in the Constitution.
