ORDINARILY, we would sympathise with the private media. It is tough trying to sell tired yarns about an even more tired Morgan Tsvangirai being ready to do battle in 2018 when the man has never won an election, even as a councillor, since the West made him lead the MDC in 1999.

It is tough to create a storm in a teacup aboutNko san a Mo yo when them an can eveen struggled to convince himself that he would get his own vote before rushing to announce the formation of APA.

Nkosana Moyo’s alleged political party to date has no members apart from himself. Which reminds us of what President Mugabe said all those years ago about Love more Madhu ku being the leader and member of the National Constitutional Assembly. By the way, we know why Nkosana Moyo rushed to announce he had a political party. We know whose money he is hoping to secure before Jealousy Mawarire and Shingi Munyeza get in on the act.

But that is fodder for another time, a time when all the dominoes are in line and are ready to tumble onto each other with the last one falling into the pit of political oblivion. Back to the private media. We don’t envy them. It’s hard trying to make news out of nothing. It’s hard to find new and inventive ways to say “Mugabe must go” for two decades.

And now they have to contend with sneaky characters, political sleezeballs who interview themselves, put the text on a flash drive, hand it over to an editor, stick someone’s name on it, and then publish it as if it is all your own.

What makes it tough er is doing it while knowing that everyone knows that this is what is going on. And you have to pretend like it never happened.

In fact, you have to muster self-righteous indignation to deny the truth. As said at the start, we would ordinarily sympathise with them.

But in this case, they deserve whatever misery comes their way for being so spineless and open to manipulation.

The only people we sympathise with are their few — very few (ask Zamps) — readers.
